Sherri Myers - Town Council, Place 3

I believe in managed growth!  We have an excellent opportunity to determine the direction of our community right now.  Growth is occurring all around and we are strategically located in the middle of it.  Expansion will have a direct impact on our community and our roadways, and we must be proactive in determining the types of commercial developments that will have a positive effect on our community, by meeting our citizen's wants and needs, and bringing in much needed tax revenue to help shift the burden of cost and services to our community. I look forward to building a relationship with those developers who will work with us towards accomplishing mutual goals that will best serve our community.

I believe fiscal responsibility and transparency are absolutely necessary. By keeping the public informed on our spending, we will promote transparency and accountability in our local government. Budget transparency encourages fiscal responsibility and gives our citizens the ability to track how their hard earned dollars are being spent.

I believe we need to strengthen our relationships not only in our community, but with the surrounding community leadership. Our greatest resource is our citizens, and I would like to see opportunities that allow for their input, by way of committees and open forum events that will help give voice to our citizens and direction to our leaders. Strong connections to our surrounding community leaders is a must as we grow and expand, since innovation can come from anywhere and can be used to help solve problems that arise as we grow.

Lastly, I believe in preserving the rural areas that so many of us appreciate and identity with. I chose Argyle because it was an oasis away from the bustle of a larger city. Together we can protect our open spaces, beautiful treed topography, and natural beauty from over-development with wise management of our resources.

I have lived here in Argyle for almost 13 years and am excited to invest my time and energy towards the future of Argyle.  I grew up in a smaller Iowa community and graduated from a catholic high school.  I went on to college at the University of Northern Iowa as a vocal major. Then I  became a professional singer and began traveling with Lowell Lundstrom Ministries where I met my husband of 27 years.  We got married and moved to California to help pastor a family church, and we stayed in that location for 15 years.  During that time, I worked for the California Highway Patrol as a dispatcher.  It was through the CHP that I began to perform the national anthem at various large venues such as the SF Giants, the Oakland Warriors, the Sacramento Monarchs, the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Motor Speedway, the Sheriff's Ball, and the Department of Homeland Security.    My husband and I began to invest in the local California real estate market which led me to getting my real estate license, and I began working as a Realtor.  My husband's job eventually brought us here to Texas where we spent almost a year looking for the right home in the right community.  We kept hearing about an excellent small school in Argyle, and we wanted our son to experience the same outstanding education we had received.  My son graduated in 2018 from Argyle ISD, and he is now at the University of Texas, Arlington, working on his Aerospace degree.
